Agrigento and the “Valley of the Temples”

Agrigento is the main city of the province of which is also part of Ribera. It is located 40 km away from Kamemi, and is famous for its long history which contains traces of its past greek, Carthaginian and Roman, before being conquered by the Normans.

Among the major points of interest is the “Valley of the Temples”, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the archaeological park among the largest in the world which includes the remains of temples, shrines and cemeteries of the Hellenistic period.

Walking through the streets of downtown you may encounter in the characteristic “Via degli Artisti”, or visit the birthplace of “Luigi Pirandello” or theater that bears his name, or even visit the various cathedrals, basilicas and sanctuaries that populate the city.
